Q & A
Answers to your most commonly asked questions...
- What is the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Alliance (DHHA)?
- We are a non-profit organization here to serve the entire "Signing Community". The bylaws of DHHA require
that a minimum of 51% of our board be comprised of Deaf and hearing professionals who are fluent in/value
American Sign Language (ASL) as well as Deaf Culture. There are no other specific requirements that limit
participation. We are an organization that cherishes a visually rich communication environment - an organization
that values YOU and the ways of your extended family, and loved ones.
- Who are the people involved with DHHA?
- Executive Committee:
- Additional Board Members:
- Lori Duvernell
- Gregory Puhlmann
- We would like to acknowledge our past Board members with an enthusiastic wave of thanks:
- Barbara Aschenbrenner:
“As the parent of a 20-something Deaf daughter, I recognize the importance of supportive networking for parents, Deaf and hard of hearing
youth and hearing siblings. DHHA brings together families in the Deaf and hearing communities for fun, encouragement and learning.”
- Ron Byington:
“It has been a great learning experience to start a new organization. We need more young blood with the energy and ideas
to continue DHHA's success. Please consider getting involved in DHHA and make a difference in our community.”
- David Letkiewicz:
“I became involved with DHHA to preserve and increase awareness of our vibrant Deaf culture. DHHA is a place to SHARE culture.”
- Lee Skupniewicz:
“I'm proud of DHHA's work providing creative opportunities for Deaf and hard of hearing folks, and bringing them together.
DHHA fosters a strong sense of Community, expands opportunities for youth and families, encourages positive role models, and celebrates
a vibrant Deaf community with dynamic leaders!”
- What are the goals of DHHA?

organization.
